About Himachal Pradesh

After Indian Independence, a Union Territory of Hill states was created. It primarily consituted of hill states around Shimla. On November 1, 1966 Punjab Hill areas were merged into Himachal as part of reorganization of Punjab. Himachal Pradesh became a full fledged state of the Republic of India on January 25, 1971.

Himachal Pradesh has been on the path of progress since Independence. The literacy rate of the state is 63% now and is improving every decade. The population has almost stabilized at about 5 million, thanks to high literacy and effective family planning programs. Every village in the state has electricity and drinking water now.

Many young men from Himachal serve the Indian Army and have played significant role in the National defense. Dharamsala has a war memorial dedicated to the memory of those who lost their lives for their country.

Himachal is literally a power house when it comes to hydro-electricity. The state has many dams that harness the hilly rivers to generate electric power. The electricity is used by farmers in Punjab, Haryana and by the industries in the northern plains.

Shimla Morning free. Afternoon half day city tour visiting Indian Institute Of Advanced Studies, Sankat Mochan Temple and Jakhu Temple, Evening free to stroll in the famous shopping place of Shimla town - The Mall & The Ridge. Overnight at hotel

DAY-03 SHIMLA-DHARMSHALA( BY SURFACE)
After breakfast transfer to Dharamshala . Upon arrival checkin at Hotel .

DAY-04 DHARAMSHALA
Morning half day city tour visiting Dal Lake, Church, Bhagsu Nag Temple and Tibetan Monastery. Afternoon free. Overnight at hotel.

DAY-05 DHARAMSHALA-MANALI(BY SURFACE)
Today Travel by surface from Shimla to Manali. On arrival check in at hotel. Overnight at hotel.

DAY-06 MANALI
Morning half day city tour visiting Hadimba Devi Temple, Manu Temple, Tibetan Monastery and Vashisht Village. Afternoon free. Overnight at hotel.

DAY-07 MANALI
Today full day excursion visiting Kothi Gorge, Gulaba, Marhi, Rohtang Pass (Upto Snow Line in case Rohtang is closed due to snow fall) and Sollang Valley. Overnight at hotel.

DAY-08 MANALI-CHANDIGARH(BY SURFACE)
After breakfast transfer to Chandigarh . Upon arrival check in at Hotel.

DAY-09 CHANDIGARH
Morning sightseeing Tour of Chandigarh, the best-planned city of India, designed by renowned French architect Le Corbuiser. Here visit Rock Garden, Rose Garden, Sukhna Lake, etc. Overnight at hotel.

DAY-10 LEAVE CHANDIGARH
Morning at leisure. In the afternoon leave for Delhi
